MS, Licensed Professional Counselor
25 Years of Experience
I believe therapy is actually awareness. My job is to listen, gather information and help people have new or different perspectives and awareness on issues in order to work towards finding strategies to help alleviate or manage difficult emotions and situations.
I would like my clients to feel safe and calm entering my practice
While attending James Madison University (Go Dukes!) for undergrad and working towards a nursing degree, about half way through, I realized that I really wanted to work with individuals in a different capacity than medicine. I discovered I had a genuine interest in helping people and felt inspired seeing how resilient they are. I wanted to assist with the challenges of daily living and that let me to pursue my degree in counseling.
I specialize in these areas of interest
I base my practice on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Adlerian, Rogerian, Solution based and Client Centered Therapy.
What to expect
My practice, Louise O'Connor LPC, is a culmination of years dedicated to understanding and aiding human resilience. Specializing in therapy for children, adolescents, young adults, and families, I employ an eclectic mix of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Adlerian, and Solution-Focused techniques, to offer personalized and effective support. My goal is to create a space where clients feel safe and heard, empowering them to uncover new perspectives and strategies that foster emotional well-being and personal growth.

On my time off I enjoy spending time at the Bay with my husband, kayaking, playing tennis, walking, reading, hanging out with Chief (2 year old Weimaraner) and my 3 adult kids. I’m left handed and have learned that the world was not built for left handed people.

Counseling can benefit anyone seeking support, self-discovery, or personal growth. Absolutely. Confidentiality is a fundamental aspect of our counselling process. Your privacy is paramount, and anything discussed during our sessions remains strictly confidential, except in exceptional circumstances outlined in our privacy policy.
The number of sessions required varies based on your unique situation and goals.
